The Department of Geology at Chulalongkorn University has been a pioneer in geological education in Thailand since 1958 and was officially established on July 13th, 1959. Building on decades of excellence, the department now focuses on advancing knowledge and research to address global challenges, particularly in the energy transition and sustainable development.
Our curriculum and research initiatives integrate traditional geological sciences with cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary approaches to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. We are committed to preparing future geoscientists for roles in renewable energy, carbon capture and storage, and sustainable resource management.
The department continues to organize specialized training courses, providing geologists in government and private sectors with the skills and knowledge necessary to support Thailand’s transition toward a low-carbon economy and a sustainable future.
Teaching programs include BSc and MSc in Geology, MSc in Earth Science, MSc in Energy Geosciences (an international program) and PhD in Geology.
